This scanner reads FDX-B and EMID chips at 134.2kHz and 125kHz, which covers the majority of pet microchips implanted in the US, UK, and EU. It does not currently read 128kHz chips (used by some AKC CAR/Trovan-distributed microchips in the US). If you need a scanner that reliably detects every chip type a shelter or clinic might encounter, ask us to confirm current frequency coverage before purchasing for professional intake use.
